Awareness campaign on sanitation

KOKRAJHAR, March 20: As part of an awareness campaign, the district Water and Sanitation Committee organized an awareness campaign among the students of Fakiragram Higher Secondary School at Fakiragram in Kokrajhar on Friday.

Hundreds of students with banners and placards took part in the rally and shouted slogans on sanitation, hygiene, and water conservation. The programme has been organized in keeping with the ‘tiol Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation week’ which was formally iugurated by Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner Thaneswar Malakar on March 16. The programme will continue till March 22. Village Water and Sanitation Committee (VWSC) Member Secretary- cum- Assistant Executive Engineer Hriday Ranjan Das spoke about the importance of sanitation and hygiene from the childhood days.

He said that children are most vulnerable to various kinds of communicable diseases. Das laid stress on regular hand washing with soap before food and after toilet. He also said that that one should be neat and clean to become a healthy person which is most important for a successful life.

“Without good health, a person cannot do well in studies and is forced to live a sorrowful life,” he asserted and urged the students to keep clean in every aspects of life.
