Awareness  meet held at Biswanath

Biswanath Chariali, June 10: An awareness meeting against spreading of rumours of child-lifting and witch hunting was held on Sunday at the Madhupur weekly market under the aegis of Biswanath district administration. The meeting was chaired by senior citizen Surendra Nath Baruah. The speakers called upon the public not to fall prey to the rumours and also to be very cautious in this respect. The incident of Karbi Anglong was widely condemned in the meeting and severe punishment was demanded for those guilty.

The meeting was attended by Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Biswanath district, Partha Sarathi Borah and Biswanath Revenue Circle Officer Biswajit Saikia. Similar meetings were arranged by Gohpur subdivisional administration at Gohpur and Tetonpukhuri weekly markets on Sunday in which SDO (C) Dr Indranasee Das and others addressed the public.
