Awareness meet on 'Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme’ held in Arunachal Pradesh

ITANAGAR: With an objective to create awareness about ‘Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme’ (DEDS) Arunachal Pradesh Regional Office National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) conducted State level Sensitization Workshop on for the senior officials of State government bankers and farmers on Tuesday.

Secretary for Animal Husbandry & Dairy Development Bidol Tayeng, on the day emphasized on the need for doubling of farmers’ income by 2022 wherein the dairy sector plays an important role.

He also outlined the State Government’s commitment made in the State budget for the current year where sufficient fund allocations has been made for White Revolution, providing capital subsidy at 50% to dairy/livestock farmers, to set up a high tech cattle breeding unit in the state and revamping of Arun Dairy located at Itanagar.

Tayeng stressed on the need for all stakeholders viz. NABARD, banks and government departments to work in cohesion and streamline the guidelines to make the scheme a success in the state.

He also appreciated NABARD’s idea of developing the sector in cluster approach and hoped that more success stories will be created to serve as an example for the state and the country.
