FROM A CORRESPONDENT

TAMULPUR, Nov 20: Bachpan Bachao Andolon (BBA), one of India’s largest organizations working for the protection of children, ensuring their quality education, in association with Tamulpur College, organized an awareness programme on sex trafficking here today.

The meeting, which was presided over by Tamulpur College Principal Subodh Deka, was addressed by BBA assistant project officer Surajit Bordoloi, community social worker Kuki Buragohain, Prabhakar Bordoloi and Rajesh Sangma.

All the speakers in their speeches talked about the peril of trafficking and its remedies.

It may be mentioned that the growing need for better livelihood options and employment has turned Assam into a fertile place for human traffickers and in the past few years, thousands of young men and women of the state have fallen prey to the designs of traffickers and have been exploited as cheap labour or as sex worker.
