Awareness meeting against witch-hunting held

MORIGAON, May 31: An awareness meeting was held on Tuesday at Niz-Bhurbandha following a witch-hunt case on May 27 at Niz-Bhurbandha, about 5 km from Morigaon town. Attending the awareness meeting, Dibyajyoti Saikia, human rights activist, called upon people to come out willfully against superstitions and the uncultured disposition in the society. He appealed to people to come up with scientific view, quitting all kinds of superstition. Besides interacting with the local people in the meeting, he said that killing people in the me of witch-hunting was inhuman. He spoke about how public administration, education and public awareness could help deal with the mece of witch-hunting. Dibyajyoti Saikia also met Dhir Bordoloi and Anjali Bordoloi who were allegedly attacked in the me of witch-hunting on May 27 at Niz-Bhurbandha and took stock of their health condition.
