Awareness meeting by Indo Global Social Service Society (IGSSS) in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: Indo Global Social Service Society (IGSSS), a pioneer non-governmental organization working for the downtrodden of the society, organized an awareness meeting jointly with District Social Welfare and Public Health and Engineering (PHE) departments at North Lakhimpur Press Club on Tuesday.

The meeting, anchored by Pinamoni Baruah, the Lakhimpur district project officer of IGSSS, sensitized awareness on various schemes implemented by the two departments mentioned above among 40 representatives selected from 25 villages under Lohit Khabalu and Pachim Telahi Gaon Panchayat of the district. Resource persons from district PHE department, Janardon Chutia and SDO Prasenjit Dutta highlighted the guidelines of the sanitary latrine construction scheme and its achievements.

Attending the event, district social welfare officer Prashanta Kumar Borah explained the schemes implemented by the department for the differently abled persons and secured maternity. He also stressed the positive role of the Anganwadi Centres with regard to physical, mental and holistic growth of children by the loving care of the employees concerned. Sidhartha Sankar Saikia, Sunmoni Hazarika, Mantu Das, Bonani Das, Sudem Imbari, Hari Boro and Kamal Das from IGSSS were present in the event.

On the other hand, the NGO distributed five water pumps among five farmers’ groups of Na-Ali, Morton Chapori, Ghagarmukh Baligaon, Rantijan, Natun Salmora villages under Pachim Telahi Gaon Panchayat on Wednesday. Coordinator Kamal Das explained the objectives of the event which was organized on the occasion at Salmora Namghar. Subject Matter Specialist of Lakhimpur KVK Jyotsna Das delivered an awareness lecture on Ravi crops in the event. The NGO distributed 25 water pumps in the area prior to it.
