Awareness meeting on deforestation

Boko, January 17: As south Kamrup has been affected by deforestation by mafia and local villagers, DFO Bhabes Das has arranged an awareness meeting at Boko Circle Office on Monday.

He said that if urgent steps were not taken soon, South Kamrup would be converted into a desert within the next five years. He said that to stop deforestation, the forest department needed the cooperation of the local people and organizations.

Hence this awareness camp has been arranged so that organizations, NGOs and social workers can help the department to stop deforestation in the area and identify the culprits and corrupt officials who are involved in deforestation or smuggling of forest resources.
