Awareness needed to encourage girls' education: Dibrugarh University VC

DIBRUGARH, May 7: A talk on the topic ‘Education Pedagogy and Choice - Based Credit System (CBCS)’ was delivered by the Vice-Chancellor of Dibrugarh University, Dr Alak Kumar Buragohain at the Manohari Devi Girls’ Kanoi College (MDKG) recently.
Addressing the faculty members of MDKG College, VC, Dr Alak Kumar Buragohain talked on the various aspects of teaching such as teaching methods, curriculum, syllabus, assessment and importance of teaching communicative English to students. Dr Buragohain also laid emphasis on the ongoing semester system and recently introduced CBCS system. Adding further, he stated that guidelines for introducing the CBCS system in institutions for graduation had been brought out by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
While talking to the teaching fraternity of the college, the Vice Chancellor stressed the need for creating widespread awareness for encouraging girls’ education. He also opined on the aspects of mobilization of human resources.
Dr Alak Buragohain, while proposing for the introduction of multiple courses in the college curriculum, said that the CBCS system would help in finding out the loopholes of the semester system that may help in developing the teaching capabilities of the faculty members.
