Awareness on NRC update held at Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR, March 20: An awareness meeting on updating of tiol Citizens of Register (NRC) was held under the aegis of Kokrajhar district administration at the auditorium hall of the Basic Training Centre, Kokrajhar.

The Additiol Deputy Commissioner, Kokrajhar PK Bhagawati spoke about the process of updating the NRC which is being started in the district. The awareness meeting was attended by the Gaonburas of five circles of the district.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner Thaneswar Malakar said that the updating of NRC was a “tiol agenda” and every citizen should extend cooperation to make the process a success.

He called upon all to come forward and help in successful completion of the update works. He also asked the Gaonburas of the district to make people aware about the updating of NRC in their respective villages. Further, he elaborated about the NRC brought out in the year 1951 and voter’s list of 1971.

The Gaonburas also expressed their support to the district administration to make the NRC update work a success in the district.
