Awareness programme for the elderly held

Donkamokam, September 29: In order to check duplicity and anomalies while allocating the tiol schemes such as Indira Gandhi tiol Old Age Pension (IGNOAP), Indira Gandhi tiol Disabled Programme Scheme (IGNDPS), tiol Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS) to beneficiaries, Rongkhang Development Block on Tuesday organized an awareness programme for elderly people at Garo Cultural Hall Satgaon.

In the programme, the officers asked the elderly people to submit their bank accounts, SGBs certificates and age proof certificates at the earliest. The officers also asked SGBs to issue authentic local certificate or they would be punished as per law.

Several cases of tampering and issuing of fake papers had been seen while allotting the schemes, from IAY to job cards, said an officer. Presided over by VDC chairman Rongkhang ME Kathar, BDO, RDB Sashi Kanta Timung, VDC chairman Bithung Rengthama Babulal Ronghang, VLEW Harsing Engti, Sadh Saikia, and hundreds of elderly people took part.
