Awareness programme held

SHILLONG, Oct 27: To reach out to the population beyond Shillong, an awareness programme was conducted at Pomblang under Mawsysnram Police Station on Wednesday by East Khasi Hills District Police in collaboration with Village Defence Party (VDP) of the said village.

Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, Shillong, M Kharkrang, IPS highlighted about crime against women and children and steps to be taken by the victims and relatives so that evidence is not destroyed.

He insisted that such crime should be reported to police at the earliest. The SP also dwelt on ATM frauds where many villagers have fallen prey and educated the young school children on drug abuse so that they do not fall prey.

Further SDPO, Sohra, IO Swer, MPS also spoke about the role and responsibilities of the VDP in the village.
