Awareness programme held

Silchar, May 1: A free health cum awareness programme under the direction and guidance of Dr Y Kishore Singh, sub divisional medical officer, and Sanjukta Das, block programme manager, of Lakhipur was held at Kapakhal village which falls on Mizoram-Manipur border, recently. There are 75 households in this remote village where electricity and water connection is yet to reach. A large of people which includes pregnant women and children were examined by the team of doctors. The villagers were advised by the team to take good care of their health by keeping their surroundings clean; covering their food and water containers, applying medicated mosquito repellants.

Blood test, immunization and free distribution of medicine were a part of this camp. The awareness was conducted under the aegis of Lakhipur block primary health centre. Kapakhal falls under Lakhipur block primary health centre. The contented villagers urged upon the authorities concerned as well as the State government, Deputy Commissioner of Cachar, the joint director of health, local MLA, Lakhipur block primary health centre and SDO (Civil) Lakhipur to set up a health sub centre along with sufficient doctors, ANMs and ASHA workers at Kapakhal village so that frequent health cum awareness camps could be held.

The medical team comprise Dr L Sangha and others. Dr Y Kishore Singh has been very active in organizing such health cum awareness camps. The beneficiaries have expressed their satisfaction.
