BILASIPARA, Aug 2: To create awareness against child marriage, the students of South Salkocha ME School and the general public under Tilapara Goan Panchayat took out a procession recently in the Tilapara area and the procession traversed a long way through NH-31. The activists shouted slogans against child marriage. The SDO (Civil), Bilasipara, Dr. MS Lakshipriya also participated in the procession.
After the procession a public meeting was held in the premises of South Salkocha ME School with Moinul Hoque in the chair. Addressing the meeting, the SDO (Civil) said that child marriage was a crimil offence and punishable under law. She appealed to the general public and the students to refrain from such unlawful activities. Among others, the meeting was addressed by Manowar Hussain, Bilat Ali Mondal, Osman Goni and Sahidul Islam.
The SDO (Civil) also released a book titled Something about Stop Child Marriage written in English by Osman Goni, a young jourlist. The SDO (Civil) also distributed prizes among the winners of different competitions organized by the school during the 10-day summer camp.
