Awareness programme on fundamental rights and duties held

TANGLA, August 20: In an effort to create awareness among rural people, a legal awareness meeting on fundamental rights and fundamental duties of the citizens along with availing beneficial schemes of the government, was hèld at Kacharitol village on the outskirts of Tangla town on Saturday. The programme was organized by District Legal Service Authority (DLSA). The programme was attended by senior advocate Jayanta Brahma along with PLV members Brishti Boro, Prabin Basumatari, Kabita Sarma, Dro Hazarika and Dhaneswar Rabha. “The main objective of creating such awareness is to curb prevailing social meces like witch-hunting, dowry and other social crimes said,” said PLV member Dhaneswar Rabha. J. Brahma said, “Many people take law in their own hands and are uware about prevalent laws.” The awareness programme, which was presided over by retired agriculture officer Indreswar Sarma, was attended by nearly 300 villagers.
