Awareness programme on GST enrollment

MANGALDAI, January 11: With a view to create awareness among the businessmen of Darrang district on the introduction of Goods and Service Tax (GST), the officials of Sales Tax department on Wednesday organized a day-long awareness campaign in Mangaldai and Kharupetia town. In Mangaldai the programme was organized at the conference hall of the Mangaldai Chambers of Commerce with cooperation of the members of the Mangaldai Chambers of Commerce. Superintendents of Taxes Jenny Daniel and Parishmita Gogoi explained in details through power point presentation on the need for enrollment under the GST which has been made mandatory by the Centre for all the traders and suppliers already registered under VAT. They also demonstrated the procedure for opening up GISTIN user id with password for existing businessmen already registered under VAT. They also made it clear that all the traders as per the direction of the government of India must create their user id within January 31, failing which the traders would face a lot of problems in continuing their business transactions. All the members of Mangaldai Chambers of Commerce, including vice-president Ramesh Ghosh and secretary Mukul Chandra Deka attended the programme. Similar awareness programme on GST enrollment was also organized at Kharupetia town which was attended by the officials of the Sales Tax department.
