Awareness programme on Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema Yoja held

GAURISAGAR, May 31: A day-long awareness programme on the occasion of the launch of the ambitious Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema Yoja was organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Sivasagar recently at Sivasagar tya Samaj.

The scheme was formally iugurated by Kamakhya Prasad Tassa, MP, Jorhat HPC. In his address, he asked the farmers to take full advantage of the scheme and hoped that the soil health card would help them to go in the right path of increasing productivity while maintaining sustaibility of the soil and water resources. He lauded the genuine effort of Assam Agricultural University for adoption of technologies for the farmers of flood-prone areas.

The main objectives of the scheme were briefly elaborated by Dr Kamal Malla. Bujarbaruah, Vice-Chancellor, Assam Agricultural University. In their short addresses, Dr Girindra. th  Hazarika, Director of Research, AAU and Abhijit Barua, District Development Commissioner (DDC), Sivasagar highlighted the key features of the Fasal Beema Scheme.  Kushal Deori, MLA, Thowra and Jogen Mohan, MLA, Mahmora also graced the function as distinguished guests. A total of 1,000 soil health cards were distributed to farmers from different places of the district. An exhibition on premier agricultural technologies was also organized for the farmers to mark the occasion.
