Awareness programme on Right to Education held

Silchar, Jan 2: A legal awareness camp on the Right to Education was held at RCBP Higher Secondary School at Joypur last Wednesday. The programme conducted under the aegis of the District Legal Services Authority, Cachar, was presided over by Jadumani Sharma, principal of the School and was attended by a number of dignitaries, both on and off the dais. L Mamon Singha, notary public and Legal Aid Counsel, DLSA, Sadique Mohammad Laskar, subject teacher, Banskandie Junior College and D D Kalita, CDPO, Lakhipur were the resources of the camp. Mril Newpane, sub-divisiol Judicial Magistrate Court, Lakhipur (M) and Abid Raja Mazumder, former principal and social worker were the chief guest and guest of honour on the camp.

 Mril Newpane elaborated in his speech that said it is the duty and liability of the parents, teachers and local authorities to provide free and compulsory education to the children between age group 6 to 14 years. The camp was also attended by a number of teachers, guardians and students of both government and private schools of the locality. The resource persons delivered their valuable speeches on the Right to Education with references to the Right to Information Act and latest notifications of both the central and the state government.

 There was light refreshment after an enlightening discussion session between the audience and the dignitaries. L Mamon Singha gave both iugural speech and vote of thanks. This camp has been taking place for the last 2 and half years. Residents of a number of villages, Harigar, Kumachara, Shivosthan, Kakpur, Subhashgar, Molong, Dipuchara, Modibasti and others, participated at the camp.
