Awareness programme on witch hunting in Demow

DEMOW, April 23: An awareness programme was organized by And Prakash Tiwari, Superintendent of Police of Sivasagar, recently. The programme was organized a day after the incident at Desang Rajabari ohalia Gaon on April 20 under Demow Police Station where a woman med Pinky Kol (50) was allegedly tortured by some people as they suspected her to be a witch.

 In the awareness programme, a large number of villagers were present where And Prakash Tiwari himself tried to make people aware about superstitions and stressed education in order to do away with superstitious beliefs.

In the awareness programme, Jayanti Sarathi Borah, Additiol SP of Sivasagar, Moni Mohan Koch, OC of Demow Police Station and Jadumoni Borah, local media person of Demow were present and they advised the villagers against indulging in such activities.
