Awareness training programme on enhancing farm income

Dibrugarh, July 5: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dibrugarh, situated at Kordoibam here, organized a day-long awareness training programme on ‘How to enhance farm income’ at Moran and Khowng with the adoption of proper and location specific suitable improved agricultural technologies in agriculture and allied sector of economy for the benefit of practising rural farmers.

Speaking on the occasion, the course director of the programme, Hemchandra Saikia, a subject matter specialist in Agricultural Economics, explained in details about what technology to adopt, how and when to adopt improved agricultural technologies capable of yielding desired production, productivity and profitability in farm production in order to harvest a respectable level of farm income. He emphasized market-oriented diversified quality crop and /farm cultivation from buyers point of view with the adoption of very suitable and profitable improved agricultural technologies in due space and time. He also mentioned that location specific improved agricultural technologies, soil fertility management on the basis of soil health card (SHC), increasing cropping intensity, integrated farming, quality production and marketing of agricultural produce, value addition through food processing, giving more emphasis on production, processing and marketing of horticultural crops and livestock component on a very commercial line could bring about a desired change in the income and profit of the farming community.

Saikia requested the participant farmers to take due advantages of various flagship programmes, particularly the Pradhan Mantir Fasal Bima Yojana and PMKSY. He also urged the farmers to go for effective organized way of farm cultivation.
