AWU students urged to take part in tion–building process

Dibrugarh, January 27:  The 66th Republic Day was celebrated at the newly set–up Assam Women’s University (AWU) in Jorhat.

To mark the celebration, the Registrar of AWU, Krish Gohain (IAS), hoisted the tiol flag. In her speech, she called upon the students to take part in the tion building process. Gohain also mentioned that all the students should build themselves as good citizens of the country by strictly maintaining punctuality, sincerity and honesty and thereby making themselves the worthy descendents of those selfless freedom fighters.

Talking about the recent development in the university, the Registrar said that AWU had received UGC recognition for all the ongoing courses which was indeed a milestone for the newly established university. She also hoped that the university would become a premier women education institute in the country within a very short span of time. In a press communiqué issued here by AWU, it was stated that the University also received an appreciation certificate from District Tobacco Control Cell, Jorhat for keeping the AWU campus tobacco–free since the day of its inception. Minister Bismita Gogoi handed over the certificate to the Registrar and Faculty members of AWU at the Republic Day Celebration function, conducted centrally by the Jorhat district administration.

The day was also celebrated at Charaideo sub–division in Sibsagar district.  In a press statement, SDPRO office of Charaideo stated that Sub–Divisiol Officer, Charaideo, Sori rarayan th unfurled the tricolor at the main function that was held at the Sori Public field. th also took salute of march past of Assam Police, NCC cadets and school children. To mark the celebration, tree plantation was done by the officials at the SDO office premises. A number of leading citizens of the locality were also felicitated on the occasion.
