B B Lyngdoh's death anniversary observed

SHILLONG, Nov 1: The B B Lyngdoh Memorial Committee observed the 12th death anniversary of Late BB Lyngdoh, a veteran politician of Meghalaya who was also considered as the father of MLA scheme at Dorbar, Elaka Laitlyngkot here.

The village Sordar, Headmen were participated in the programme held on the occasion.

Speaking as chief guest in the event, Titos Chyne, MLA from Sohra Constituency said, “It is an honour for me to be an elected representative of the people from the place where this great leader was born. He was a man who fought bravely to achieve statehood.”

Stating that BB Lyngdoh is a wise an uncorrupted politician, he said that during election time he (BB Lyngdoh) never used money power, but he used to win elections because the people loved him.   

He said that BB Lyngdoh did a lot of great works for the people of the state and he was instrumental in bringing the PDF ration system in the State. “BB Lyngdoh was a man who can never stand to see people suffer especially the poor and underprivileged and when he was the Chief Minister of the State he was able to bring the MLA funds a lot,” he said.

Dorbar and memorial stone will be constructed to remember BB Lyngdoh.

Meanwhile, Syrpailin Khonglah daughter of late BB Lyngdoh while speaking on the occasion said, “Even if it’s been 12 years now since my father has left us, but his every memory still remains fresh in our mind.”

 She said that due to the love and affection he received from the people he was elected as a representative of the people from the constituency.

“My father has not only done many great things for the people of the state but there were numerous occasion in which he would write to the Prime Minister expressing the problems of the people of the State,” she said.
