Back to back wins for Green Valley

GUWAHATI, Aug 30: FC Green Valley bounced back to title contention for the RG Baruah Super Division Soccer League by pulling the second consecutive victory in the tourment. Rode on a nice hat-trick from Captain Michael Lucky, Green valley defeated Gauhati Town Club 3-1 at the Nehru stadium here today.

Lucky opened the account for Green Valley in the 24th minutes and he scored two more goals in added times of first half and 73rd minutes. Gauhati Town club returned one through Bin Singh.

The match was well contested and Gauhati Town club performed equally in the match. However lucky was in good touch today and it was he who made the difference between the two sides. The match was 24th minutes old when Lucky netted his first goal by chipping the ball above the head of the goalkeeper. He made the score line 2-0 converting a spot kick which was awarded to Green Valley for a rough tackling by Gauhati Town Club’s I Chaba inside the box. Lucky’s third goal came in the 73rd minutes and he capitalized GTC’s goalkeeper Subol Rabha’s little error to increase the margin.  Subol fumbled a little to collect the ball and Lucky, who was close to him, gently pushed the ball into the net.

Bin Sing scored the consolation goal for Gauhati Town club in the second half with a header. The side almost scored another goal but Kake’s nice shot first hit goal keeper’s hand and then bar before disappeared from the ground.

With this victory FC Green Valley collected 6 points from four games and they are now trail by a single point from the table topper.  Gauhati Town Club collected 3 points from same number of games.
