Bad condition of highway tests patience of road users

FROM A  CORRESPONDENT

DOOMDOOMA, May 22: The tiol highway 37 which is maintained by  of Assam PWD (tiol Highway) is in bad shape along its 10 kilometres stretch from Doomdooma to Rupaisiding due to non-maintence over the years.

As most of the important educatiol institutions—Doomdooma College, Don Bosco High School and busy Government offices like Circle Office, Doomdooma Revenue Circle are situated in this area, the students, public and daily commuters have to face immense difficulties in travelling by road.  The big potholes that have developed along the road  make  the vehicular traffic  greatly inconvenient besides being hazardous for carrying injured and serious patients.

With the rainy reason round the corner, the situation is likely to aggravate which is  pretty often witnessed by general public in the case of repairing of roads and bridges.   Meanwhile,  the All Assam Students Union’s Doomdooma unit has submitted a memorandum to the PWD (NH) with the warning that in the event of its (PWD) failure to undertake timely repair of the road,  they  would take resort to extreme steps like road blockade.
