Bad road irks road users

Silchar, April 13: Swindling and siphoning of huge amount of money sanctioned for developing infrastructure, repairing, constructing and building roads is not a new phenomenon. Time and again it has been found that a huge sum of money has been siphoned off. Residents of Tikalpar GP, Udharbond development block, have alleged that a large amount of money has been drained out which was sanctioned for building PWD road to 821 No Guabari LP School (Ph – I) under Tikalpar GP, Udharbond development block. In this regard, they have submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar recently.

The road is in a very bad shape. It has alleged by them that almost the entire amount of Rs.1,63,660 (L) have been conned and that the road which has been built would cease to exist in the coming rainy season. Very sub standard and cheap work have been done in this regard. The foundation stone was laid by Mihir Kanti Shome, MLA Udharbond in the presence of Ranjit Nandi, president, Tikalpar GP.

It has been mentioned in the memorandum that no concrete step has been taken despite a number of representations to the government and the authorities concerned. They requested the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar to probe and initiate an investigation into the matter. The DC has been requested to take necessary measures in this regard. It is most unfortunate that such corruption and evil practices loom large in the society. The memorandum has been signed by Sandhya Rani Barman, Priyo Das and others. A copy of the memorandum has been sent to the MLA, BDO, of Udharbaond and the president of Tikalpar GP.
