Badminton Challenge held at Sivasagar

SIVASAGAR, April 5: The Sivasagar District Badminton Tourment, organized by the Chau-Lung Syukapha Players’ Association at  Chau-Lung Syukapha Indoor Stadium ended successfully recently.

The two-day tourment was held in four categories, i.e., Under-10 (Boys), Under-13 (Boys Trainee), Under-15 (Boys & Girls) and Non-Trainee.

In the Under-10 (Boys) category Aayush Gogoi defeated Shantanu Gogoi while Himan Sekhar Das became champion beating baya Ranjan Das in Under-13 (Boys Trainee) category. In boys event of Under-15 category Dibanga Das defeated Samudra Sekhar Saikia, while Khamseng Rajkumari defeating Gargee Dutta became champion in Under-15 (Girls) event. In the Non-trainee category of Singles’ event Masjyoti Gogoi of Jorhat defeated Tanuj Kalita of Sivasagar while Mashjyoti Gogoi and Moushin Hussain of Jorhat lifted the Doubles’ trophy defeating Pratim Baruah and Anupam Baruah of Sivasagar.

On the other hand, Ashwini Kumar Doley and Paran Hazarika of Sivasagar became champions in the 40-plus Doubles’ event by defeating Dr Ritwick Chetia and Rajia of Sivasagar.

After the tourment Bibekanda Das, Superintendent of Police, Sivasagar gave away the prizes. Earlier, the tourment was iugurated by Dipali Chaliha, president of Sibsagar tya Samaj.
