Bagan will try to make good show: Katsumi

GUWAHATI, Feb 22: After a long period Mohun Bagan Club, the oldest soccer club of the country,  will be seen in action in the city on Wednesday. The green-maroon brigade will take on Maldives outfit Maziya Sports and Recreation club in their AFC Cup match which will be held at Indira Gandhi Athletic stadium here on Wednesday.

Bagan has decided to play their three home matches of the meet at the Indira Gandhi Athletic stadium because of no availability of ground in Kolkata. Captain of home team Katsumi Yusa already arrived in the city and rest of his teammate will land here tomorrow morning. On the other hand, Maldives outfit arrived this evening to play their away game. Both the teams will do their practise session tomorrow afternoon at the Indira Gandhi Athletic stadium.

Talking to the media person this afternoon at the Assam Football Association office Katsumi Yusa sound optimistic that his team will be able to make a good show in the forthcoming match, “ We are doing well in the I league and I am optimistic that my team will be able to continue similar performance here too,” said Yusa .It may be mentioned here that Mariners are now leading the I league points table with 18 points.

Yusa however refused to make any comments on their next match opponent. Replying a query he said, “ What I can say is that we are now concentrating on our own game and will try to make a good show on Wednesday.”

Maziya Sports and Recreation Club, an outfit from Male, is a very young club in comparison to Bagan, The club was formed in 1996 and it is their third appearance in AFC cup.

Meanwhile there will be three types of tickets for this game which prices are Rs 100, 150 and 300. Apart from the RG Baruah Sports Complex, tickets will be available in other counters in the different localities of the city too which included Sarusajai Sports complex, GS Road, Maligaon, Rajgarh Road, near Goswami service and Zoo Road. There will be one counter in Shillong also.

The secretary of the Assam Football Association Ankur Dutta informed the media that separate parking for ticket holders will be available inside the Sarusajai Sports complex on the match day.
