Bah Gosai Festival celebrated with fanfare

NALBARI, April 22: Sarania Kachari people, in association with the Sarania Kachari Development Council and the All Assam Sarania Kachari Students’ Union, centrally celebrated the Bah Gosai Festival at Dhamdhama on April 19 and April 20. The programmes included inauguration of main gate by Puspa Ramchiary, president of the celebration committee. Dipak Deka Sarania, chairman of the Sarania Kachari Development Council, while inaugurating the open meeting held on the occasion, said that the Sarania Kachari community had its own identity and the students’ organization of the Sarania Kacharis was democratically fighting for development of the community.

 Deka highlighted the significance of Bah Gosai Utsav, saying that it was celebrated every year on the sixth day of Bohag by the Saranias with their own customs. He appealed to the Sarania Kachari people to fight for their existence and development, challenging deprivation and suppression. Dr Anil Bharali other dignitaries attended the meeting. As many as 40,000 people attended the open session.
