Bal Bhawan teachers' honorarium still pending

By our Staff Reporter

Guwahati, February 17: “The payments of all the teaching staff of Bal Bhawan are due from May 1, 2014 till today. The teachers of this institution get only Rs 5,000 a month, but still the authority doesn’t feel any responsibility to pay the pending amount of Rs 3,00,000 for the payment of these staff,” said by Sampriti Barman, Principal, Bal Bhawan, Guwahati.

Barman is worried that the teachers of Bal Bhawan are neglected regarding the payment of their honorarium, while other schemes are going well in the department.

Bal Bhawan, Guwahati is a part Bal Bhawan, Delhi, which functions under the Department of Social Welfare. A total 945 students are studying in the Bal Bhawan, and they are taught eight types of cocurricular activities. They are vocal music, classical dance, setar, guitter, musical keyboard, tabla, computer application and crafts like cutting and tailoring.

Even the musical instruments of the Bhawan are also not repaired. The instruments like computer, tabla and others have been damaged, but the authority did not have any time to get them repaired. Even when this reporter tried to ask the director of the department concerned on the problems, he did not pay any heed to explain the reason behind these problems. “When we went to the department, our file could not go further for their sanction from March, 2014 till now, and pathetically the file itself got lost in the office concerned. But later, it was regained and now the process is again under scrutiny,” said Barman.
