Bamboo traders stage protest

BOKAKHAT, FEBRUARY 21 : Activists of Numaligarh Bamboo Traders Association burnt the effigy of Ujjalmoni Phukan, the Deputy General Mager of Hindustan Paper Mill Jagiroad at the bamboo transit point, Numaligarh, on Saturday for not increasing the rate of bamboo since a long time. The present rate of bamboo which has not been revised for a long time is Rs 2,200 per metric tonne. The Association also shouted slogans against the bamboo syndicate which allegedly reduces their profit. The officials of the transit point said that the rate could not be increased since the new tenders had not yet been opened. The Association submitted a memorandum to the authority of Hindustan Paper Mill through SDO (Civil).
