Bandh affects normal life at Haflong

HAFLONG, April 9: Normal life at Haflong was affected today due to 24-hour N C Hills bandh called by the N C Hills Indigenous Students Forum and N C Hills Indigenous Women Forum from 5 am today.

Both the organizations were demanding bifurcation of N C Hills district into two district with autonomous Councils under 3(C ) of Article 244( 2 ) & 275 ( 1 ) of the Sixth schedule to the constitution of India, immediate termition of Jatinga to Haflong road contract allotted to M/s Simplex Som Datt Builders (JV) and immediate repairing of Lumding to Silchar road.

All Business establishments including market and banks remained closed. Schools were also remained closed. Vehicles were off the road. No untoward incidents were reported so far.
