Bandh affects normal life in Duliajan

DULIAJAN, July 7 : Moran, Mottock, Ahom, Chutia,Tea-Tribes and Koch-Rajbongshi organizations  under the banner of Chai Jagusthiya  Oikya Mancha staged  a 12-hour Assam bandh on Tuesday from 5:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. demanding ST status immediately to these communities.

Educatiol institutions, banks, business establishments, OIL and Assam Gas Company Limited offices were remained closed in Duliajan. The protesters staged demonstration against the Tarun Gogoi led-Congress government and Central Government by burning tyres at the sites of 16 No.Tili, Tipling, near OIL Market, Daily Bazar and others. According to sources, no major untoward incident occurred except when some protesters damaged two vehicles near the site of Dirial Tea-Estate under Duliajan police station. The activists of six ethnic organizations had obstructed entry of employees of OIL into the Registered Office and other offices. The vehicles of OIL could not ply today. Other vehicles completely kept off the road.
