Bandh evokes total response in Morigaon

MORIGAON, Sept 12: The 12 hour- Assam bandh called by Assam Jatiyadabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) passed off peacefully in Morigaon district on Saturday.

AJYCP activists burnt tyres at Morigaon police point and Baghara Tiniali in against the Centre’s decision to grant citizenship to Hindu Bengalis from Bangladesh and other communities from Pakistan.

 Utpal Barthakur, publicity secretary of AJYCP central committee said, “Why should only Assam bear the huge burden? This decision will affect all indigenous people of Assam. So we should protest it.”

Vehicles remained off the road during the bandh hours and all business establishments and schools remained closed.
