Bandh peaceful in Duliajan

FROM A CORRESPONDENT
DULIAJAN, MAY 7: The 12-hour Assam bandh called by Asom Ga Parishad (AGP) in protest against the land swap deal passed off peacefully in Duliajan and its neighbouring areas. During the bandh, activists of Asom Yuba Parishad (AYP) protested against the State Government and the Central Government by burning tyres in various places of Duliajan.  However, no untoward incident took place. School, colleges, banks, government offices and OIL offices remained open.  Duliajan police arrested Putul Sonowal, secretary of Dibrugarh district AGP but after some time he was released.
