Bandh peaceful in Margherita

MARGHERITA, September 16: The 12-hour Assam bandh called by Tai Ahom Yuba Parishad, Assam on Wednesday passed off peacefully in Margherita. Banks and business establishments remained closed. Picketers burnt tyres at NH 38 road  in Margherita. Mintu Deodhai Phukan, general secretary of Tai Ahom Yuba Parishad, Assam Central Committee said that Prime Minister rendra Modi-led BJP government at the Centre had shown ‘step-motherly’ treatment to the people of Assam. “If the Central Government does not take back this decision within one month, then Tai Ahom Yuba Parishad, Assam will intensify its stir,” said Mintu Deodhai Phukan.
