Bangladeshi smuggler apprehended

SHILLONG, June, 22: The BSF troops deployed at South Garo Hills district of Meghalaya apprehended one Bangladeshi smuggler.

The smuggler, Sudarshan Rechil (50) of Mymensingh district in Bangladesh was apprehended along with huge quantity of betel nuts while he was trying to sneak into Bangladesh from India.

In another incident, BSF troops deployed at Baghmara, South Garo Hills district of Meghalaya seized 24 bamboos, 450 kilograms of coal, 200.680 cubic feet of wooden logs, while being smuggled out to Bangladesh through Simsang River.

According to BSF authorities after the incessant rainfall in Meghalaya, the increased water level in the rivers has made smugglers to attempt their nefarious activities through rivers and drains.

Besides these, BSF troops also seized 75 cattle’s, 641 bottles of liquor, eight boats and other contraband items, worth value over Rs 19 lakhs while being smuggled out from India to Bangladesh on Meghalaya border during the last week.
