SHILLONG, Jan 4: The Civil Society Women’s Organisation (CSWO) today alleged that many families from Klew (Upper Klew), were asked by an employee of the Meghalaya Rural Bank at Nongthymmai, Ri Bhoi district, to bring a certificate from the Sordar Raid Madan Kyrdem before any pass book can be issued to them to open a new account. According to the villagers as per new guidelines a new account is needed to be opened by them for receiving the benefits under PDS (Public Distribution Scheme).  “After being issued a Ration Card they were required to open the savings account and when they went to the bank Rs 500 was taken from them but there was delay in providing the passbook,” CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing alleged.
