Bank robbery bid in Mawthawpdah

Mawkyrwat, June 7:  In a daring bank heist, unidentified robbers on Monday tried to rob the Meghalaya Rural Bank (MRB), Mawthawpdah Branch in South West Khasi Hills District but in vain after they could not enter the strong room where the safe is located.

Speaking to the Sentinel, Branch Mager of MRB Mawthawpdah Branch, James R Pala, said that the incident took place on Sunday night before dawn in which unidentified robbers tried to rob the bank by cutting the lock and enters the office but they could not get any money because they cannot enter the strong room where the safe is located.

"The robbers cut two locks and enter the office but they could not enter the strong room where the safe was located and therefore they could not steal any money. However, 21 ATM cards have been missing," Pala said, adding an FIR has been filed today at the Mawkyrwat police station.

Meanwhile, the Mawkyrwat police informed that investigation into the incident is going on.
