Baokhungri Hills trekking meet

Kokrajhar, April 7: The 6th edition of the famous Baokhungri Hills trekking competition will get underway from April 12 on the occasion of the Baokhungri Festival.

Official sources from Council Head of the Department (CHD), Sports and Youth Welfare, BTC, said forms were being issued in every District Sports Office of BTC and respective district sports association. Sources said the hill trekking competition would be held for both males and females and the winner would get Rs. 1 lakh while 2nd and 3rd position holders would eceive Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 25,000 respectively and seven persons up to 10 positions would be given Rs. 5,000 each as consolation prize.

Besides, there will be competitions on traditiol Khomlaii, Gila, Dongfang Bukui and Daobo Athing. The individual competition winners will receive Rs. 10,000, Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 2,500 cash respectively while team winners will receive Rs. 20,000, Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 5,000 respectively. Massive preparations are going on in full swing to make the festival a grand success. There will be ethnic food festival, cultural extravaganza and paragliding to attract the visitors. Baokhungri Festival is the greatest annual festival in the BTC region where lakhs of people from various parts of the region visit and take part in the hill trekking competition.
