Barak loses its jewel in Juwel

Silchar,  Dec 13: The death of Juwel Choudhury, a magical Octopad player, music composer, drummer and singer, at 5.30 am on Tuesday at Guwahati, has sent waves of shock to the people of this region. Even a semil tome on the chequered life of this 39 year old brilliant musician will fall short of his matchless popularity and brilliancy. His pancreas, liver and kidney were affected and as such, he succumbed to death after prolonged illness. On December 7, he was taken to Guwahati after his health condition worsened. After a few days, Juwel left for the heavenly abode at Nemcare Hospital.

 A large number of socio cultural bodies, literary organizations and people have condoled the sudden demise of Juwel Choudhury. His body was brought from Guwahati to his own resident which is situated at Lane No 6, Vivekanda road, Silchar and later cremated at Silchar Shashan Ghat at 10.45 pm on Tuesday. More than 100 bikers and a large number of people accompanied Juwel in his last journey. Born on April 11, 1977, he did his schooling from Silchar Collegiate School and graduated in Commerce from Gurucharan College.

 Juwel’s foray into the cultural world was in the year 1999 and since then there was no looking back for him. Juwel Choudhury was associated with Rupraag Music Orchestra, Rising Orchestra, private and government channels, releasing of albums in the form of CDs. His sad demise has left a vacuum in the cultural world. His loss is irreparable as he is irreplaceable. Juwel was associated with a number of popular orchestras and worked with almost all artistes of Barak Valley and Northeast region. He also performed in a number of shows in Mumbai.

 Juwel is survived by his mother Ashima Choudhury, wife Moushomi Paul Choudhury who is a professiol, a 7 year old daughter Juen Choudhury, brother Nirupam Choudhury, relatives, friends, fans and followers and well-wishers. Juwel’s death was lamented and condoled from all cultural quarters. People from the world of culture and music assembled at Sangeet Vidyalaya, Silchar and observed one minute silence. People also took to social media and posted innumerable condolence notes.
