Barak teachers submit memo to Himanta

SILCHAR, Sept 22: ME and MEO teachers serving in the schools of the valley met Education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and submitted a 6-point charter of demands related to promotion, permanency of jobs, regular and hiked salaries on Monday last. They submitted a 6-ponit charter of demands which included promotion of ME teachers to the post of principal in case of any vacancy in principal’s post. They also stated that there are a large number of vacant posts in IV grade jobs and it has to be filled up without further delay. The salary structure of the principal in such schools is scanty and thus it has been requested to hike his salary. A large number of graduate teachers have been working on a low pay scale and so the demand for upgrading their pay scales has been asked for by a representative body of Cachar District’s ME and MEO Teachers’ Organization. It was also stated that all the teachers should get earned leave (EL) for 30 days. The memorandum was submitted by Amul Haque Barlaskar, president, and Kankan Bhattacharjee, general secretary of the body.
