Barcelo fans allowed to fly Catalan separatist flags

Madrid, May 20: A court here has ruled that Barcelo football fans attending the fil of the Copa del Rey against Sevilla on Sunday will be able to display the Estelada pro-independence Catalan flag.

Barcelo said the ban on the Estelada flag, symbolising support for Catalonia's breakaway from the rest of Spain, was an attack on freedom of expression, reports Efe.

The judge who approved the appeal said that it has not been proven that the display of the flags could incite violence or racism.

Catalan fans can now wave them in the fil where Barcelo seek their second title of the football season after La Liga. IANS
