BARD conducts awareness programme on fincial inclusion

 KOKRAJHAR, March 22: The tiol Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (BARD) organized an awareness programme on fincial inclusion at Dotma in Kokrajhar.

 Fincial inclusion is the process of ensuring access to fincial services and timely and adequate credit as needed by vulnerable groups such as weaker sections and low income groups at an affordable cost. Therefore, to be a part of the formal fincial network, it is imperative that the rural people are sensitized about the formal fincial system comprising of banks; various banking services and products available to them and how to make the best out of them.

  BARD, Kokrajhar, conducted an awareness programme on fincial inclusion at Shantigar village under Dotma block in Kokrajhar district recently.  The programme aimed at sensitization of the people in aspects such as fincial planning, various saving instruments, zero balance & no frill accounts, deposit accounts, credit needs assessment–credit instruments concept of cash credit limit, remittance and transfer facilities; micro insurance, concept and functioning of banking correspondents/customer service providers (CSPs), responsibilities of people/ concept of Direct Benefit Transfer.

The details of the scheme of Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yoja (PMJDY) were explained to the people of Shantigar. The programme was conducted in association with PUNGKA TRUST, Kokrajhar and BARDWI Farmers’ Club, Shantigar, Dotma. The programme was graced by the presence of the Lead Bank Mager, UCO Bank – Kokrajhar  L. Lalhruatkima and the Commandant BSF – 411 Bn. Sanjeev Kumar and his team.
