BARD organizes book-keeping training programme

GAURISAGAR, Feb 14: tiol Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (BARD) organized a day-long book-keeping training programme for SHG members in association with Assam Gramin Vikash Bank (AGVB), Joysagar Branch on Tuesday at BR Ambedkar Kala Bikash Kendra, Dhuliapar Mathadung village under Gaurisagar Development Block in Sivasagar district.

 In the function, Lakheswar Mahanta, District Development Mager (DDM), BARD, Sivasagar, Rajib Dutta, social worker and jourlist, Promod Borgohain, Field Officer, SIRD, Joysagar Extension Centre and Nitual Bailung Baruah, Assistant Mager, AGVB, Joysagar Branch took part as resource persons. In his speech, Lakheswar Mahanta briefly discussed about SHG concept and its credit system. He emphasized various social security schemes of the Union Government like Pradhan Mantrir Surakshya Bima Yoja (PMSBY), Pradhan Mantrir Jibon Jyoti Bima Yoja (PMJJBY) and Atal Pension Yoja (APY) and appealed to the SHGs to take these opportunities.

 Addressing the gathering, Promod Buragohain  elaborated the concept of SHG and its proper implementation in practical field.  Rajib Dutta rrated the function of SHGs  and the impact of SHG contribution in building the tion’s economy.  He even dwelt at length about maintaining of cash book, ledger, proceeding book and the concept of the formation of Joint Liability Group (JLG). In the function, AGV Bank Joysagar  provided Rs 5.75  lakh loan to 10 SHGs  for rearing of duck, poultry, cow and other productivity purposes.
