Gaurisagar, October 27: tiol Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (BARD) organized a day-long Fincial Literacy Awareness Programme (FLAP) in association with Assam Gramin Vikash Bank (AGVB), Sivasagar and Konwarpur Branch and the NGO Japi, Sivasagar on Wednesday at No 2 Mathadang village under Sivasagar Development Block in Sivasagar district. The dignitaries who attended the programme were Lakheswar Mahanta, District Development Mager(DDM), BARD, Sivasagar and Charaideo district, Bhabendra th Mohan, secretary, Japi , Bhupen Saikia, Branch Mager, AGVB, Konwarpur Branch, Anjan Medhi, Assistant Mager, AGVB, Sivasagar Branch, Bhogeswar Bora, Handloom and Textile Department, and Jyoti Phukan, Principal, Gyan Vigyan Academy, Sivasagar. Addressing the gathering, Lakheswar Mahanta highlighted the basic concept of formation and credit linkage of JLGs and its journey from concept level to micro credit. He also discussed various promotiol and developmental programmes of BARD including Stand-up India Scheme, RuPay KCC and Mudra Scheme. Bhupen Saikia spoke about various banking products and also SHGs, JLGs, KCC, PMSBY, PMJJBY and APY. Bhubandra th Mohan highlighted the various beneficial programme sof BARD and also urged the farmers’ community to avail the benefit of the various schemes. He also requested the farmers’ community to join the JLG programme of BARD for their economic development. The programme was attended by more than 87 farmers, SGH/JLG members, dairy farmers and weavers.
