GAURISAGAR, December 22: tiol Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (BARD) organized a day-long Fincial Literacy Awareness Programme (FLAP) in association with Amguri Development Block on Wednesday at the Conference Hall, Amguri in Sivasagar district.
The dignitaries attended the programme were Jayanta Ranjan Das, BDO, Amguri Development Block, Lakheswar Mahanta, DDM, BARD, Prasant Saikia, Branch Mager, Assam Gramin Vikash Bank (AGVB), Haluating Branch, Arup Kr Phukan, Branch Mager , UBI, Amguri Branch, Jayanta Kr Phukan, Branch Mager, UBI, mti Branch, JS Shekhawat, Assistant Mager, Barbum TE, Ratan Tanti, Barsilla TE, R Patra, Barbum TE and bank official of Amguri Circle, Secretary/President of Tea Garden Union of Amguri Circle.
Addressing the gathering, Jayanta Ranjan Das, BDO, Amguri Dev Block highlighted the needs and importance of fincial inclusion and also opening of bank accounts in tea garden areas within the time limit fixed by the government. In his speech, DDM, BARD, Lakheswar Mahanta highlighted the various social security schemes of the Government of India. He also talked about Pradhan Mantrir Surakshya Bima Yoja (PMSBY), Pradhan Mantrir Jibon Jyoti Bima Yoja (PMJJBY) and Atal Pension Yoja (APY) and appealed to the farming community to get the benefit out of it.
Further, he also highlighted the various beneficial programmes of BARD and also urged upon the farmers community to avail the benefit of the above schemes. The DDM also appealed to the tea garden magers concerned and also bankers to expedite the process of enrolment of bank accounts in garden areas at the earliest.
Jayanta Kr Phukan, BM, UBI, mti Branch, and Arup Kr Phukan, BM, UBI, Amguri Branch also talked about basic requirements for opening of bank account. A hundred people participated in the progarmme and exchanged their views with the resource persons and bank officials.
