GAURISAGAR, August 10 : tiol Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (BARD) organized a day-long Fincial Literacy Awareness Programme (FLAP) in association with Assam Grameen Vikash Bank (AGVB), Dhitaipukhuri Branch and with NGO JAPI, Sivasagar on Tuesday at Khelua Ranga Mancha under Sivasagar Development Block in the district of Sivasagar.
In the function, Lakheswar Mahanta, District Development Mager (DDM), BARD, Sivasagar and Charaideo district , Raghundan Saikia, Branch Mager, AGVB, Dhitaipukhuri Branch and Bhaben Chandra Mohan, secretary, JAPI NGO and social worker of Sivasagar district took part as resource persons. Addressing the gathering, Lakheswar Mahanta highlighted the basic concept of formation and credit linkage of JLGs and its journey from concept level to micro credit. He has also discussed various promotiol and developmental programme of BARD including Stand-up India Scheme, RuPay KCC and Mudra Scheme.
The DDM also discussed about PMSBY, PMJJBY and APY. In his speech, Raghundan Saikia, rrated various banking products and also formation process and credit linkage to the SHGs, JLGs and KCC. Bhaben Chandra Mohan from NGO JAPI highlighted the various beneficial programmes of BARD and also urged upon the farmers community to avail the benefit of the above scheme. He had also requested the farming communities to join the JLG programme of BARD for their economic development. The programme was attended by more than 86 farmers, SGH/JLG members, weavers and villagers hailing from various villages under Sivasagar development block.
