GAURISAGAR, Feb 1: tiol Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (BARD) organized a day-long sensitization programme for bankers on SHG/JLG concept in association with Assam Gramin Vikash Banks (AGVB), Sivasagar and Charaideo districts on Tuesday at Yabadol, Sivasagar district. The dignitaries who attended the programme were Ravindra Kumar Reddy, Deputy General Mager, BARD, Assam Regiol Office, Guwahati, Sanjaya nd, chairman, AGVB, H.O, Guwahati, Lakheswar Mahanta, District Development Mager, BARD, ba Kr Hazarika, Chief Mager, AGVB, HO, Guwahati, P K Deb, Regiol Mager, AGVB, RO, Dibrugarh, among others. Addressing the gathering, Ravindar Kr Reddy, Deputy General Mager, BARD, highlighted the need and importance of Kishan Credit Card. He also advised the SHGs/JLGs to work for the betterment of their economic activities. Reddy also emphasized the Pancha Sutra of SHG. He urged upon the SHG/JLGs for uplift of their economic activities. In his speech, Sanjaya nd, chairman of AGVB, also talked about the need and importance of SHG/JLG movement. He urged upon the SHGs to help the bank to reduce NPA. In the meeting, Lakheswar Mahanta, DDM, BARD rrated briefly about various social security schemes of the Government of India. Further, he also highlighted the various beneficial programmes of BARD and urged upon the farmers to avail the benefits of the schemes. He even appealed to the garden magers and as well as bankers to expedite the process of enrolment of bank account in garden areas at the earliest. The programme was attended by more than 366 participants hailing from different parts of Sivasagar and Charaideo districts.
