Bardwi Shikhla Festival to strengthen communal harmony

KOKRAJHAR, May 4: Preparations are going on in full swing in Bodofa Nwgwr at the BTC Secretariat field for the Bardwi Sikhla Festival, which will be held under the initiative of the BTC authority on May 5 and May 6. Bihu dance troupes of all communities of the State have been invited to strengthen the communal harmony and integrity among the people of the region. With an aim of fostering, strengthening and creating mutual understanding between each other, the BTC has decided to celebrate the Spring Festival or Bihu or Bwisagu as ‘Bardwi Shikhla Festival’ in a grand manner. In this connection, the BTC authority has already started its preparations.

Talking to mediapersons, the EM of BTC Doneswar Goyary, who is the overall in-charge of the mega cultural event, on Thursday said all preparations has been completed. He said the preparations were done in a hectic manner. He said cultural troupes from all communities of Assam and BTC region would be taking part in the festival and all famous artistes of the State had been invited to perform.

On the first day, the festival will be inaugurated by BTC Executive Member Doneswar Goyary followed by local cultural programme. Bodo Sahitya Sabha president Taren Boro will inaugurate the cultural programme on the second day. Axam Xahitya Xabha president Dr. Paramananda Rajbongshi and AASU advisor Dr. Samujjal Bhattacharjya will attend the programme as chief guest and appointed speaker respectively. BTC Principal Secretary Biren Chandra Phukan has called upon all people of the State to take part in the Bihu or Bwisagu festival.
