Basaiawmoit group not attending Grand Council

SHILLONG, Sept 2: HSPDP leader Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit along with his supporters today announced that they will not be taking part in the Grand Council (Dorbar bah) called by the PDF on September 5 at Polo Ground Shillong.

It may be noted that the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) will be holding the meeting of the Dorbar Bah on 5 September in order to pass a resolution on the two recent legislation of the Council including the building bye-laws and the rules to empower the traditiol bodies.

“We feel that most of the people are thinking that we will also be participating in the Dorbar Bah on 5 September so in order to clarify our stand we would like to inform the general public that we will not be attending the Dorbar Bah called by the PDF,” Pyniaid Sing Syiem MDC Sohryngkham Constituency Said.

He informed that a lot of people have been calling them through phone to inquire if they will be attending the Dorbar bah or not. Pyniaid stated, “We have even suggested for an open debate to discuss on the issue during the Dorbar bah on 5 September but the PDF has decided to decline our debate challenge on the issue so we feel there is no point for us to waste our time.”
