SHILLONG, Sept 24: HSPDP vice president Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit today submitted his resigtion letter to quit his duties as an MDC to the KHADC Chairman Manstudy Nongrem. The decision of Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit to quit as an MDC came after the Cabinet passed the Prevention of Disqualification (Members of the Legislative Assembly of Meghalaya) Amendment Bill, 2015 in the ongoing Autumn Assembly Session in order to prevent holding of dual posts. “I feel that I will not be able to do justice and full fill the aspiration of the people if I continue to hold the dual post,” he said. According to him, if the Amendment Bill is not implemented, he would have still taken the decision to quit as an MDC.
